I've been home from the hospital for a few hours now, but it seems like Riley doesn't want to wait much longer to come out! From last night, I noticed that her movements had slowed down a lot.. she's usually really active in the middle of the night. I hadn't felt her move for about 6 or 7 hours, so I called the hospital. They told me I should be fine, that all babies had their "quiet time" intervals, and if she hadn't moved by morning to come in.
I went to work as normal this morning, but was experiencing some light cramping. Nothing huge, or painful, just annoying. I didn't think much of it, since it really wasn't hurting, but I still hadn't felt her move all morning. During my lunch break I decided to run to the nearest ER just to be safe that everything was okay. Thank goodness I did, because they admitted me, put me in a bed and hooked me up to some monitors only to find out that I was having contractions! I thought it was really weird, because I guess I had imagined that I would be in some pretty serious pain when I started having contractions.
They monitored me for about 4 hours, only to find that unfortunately, although tiny ones, my contractions were in fact regular. They had hoped they would stop on its own, but after about 5 hours of monitoring they finally gave me a shot to stop my contractions. It worked immediately, and an hour later I was sent home, thankfully.
Although I'm anxious to have her here, I'm so glad that today wasn't the day! It's still a little too early!! Seems like she's just as anxious as I am though.. =)

For You, Ms. Sassy-
I finally ordered Riley's bedding today.. I didn't want anything pink, or too girly- and since her crib will be black, we went with a sassy kind of approach.. black and white!
A Dad on His Own...
So I came across this blog, actually, read about it in a magazine. This blog is an amazing journey of a single father, raising a newborn daughter who lost his wife just a day after giving birth to their baby girl. It's a very sad story, but amazing to hear him blog on.. about the wonderful life of him and his daughter- and late wife. If you start at the bottom of his blog page, and work your way up.. it's a timeline of their birth experience, and then the unthinkable.
Like I said, it's a horrible story to hear and read about, but amazing how he finds the strength through love for his wife and daughter to carry on...it's so inspiring- things aren't always as bad as we may think we have it.

Baby Shower Invitations
Auntie Tree (Joey's sister) did an amazing job on my baby shower invites. She hand made all of them, and they came out sooo unbelievably cute! Hope to see everyone there...

Childbirth 101
Last Tuesday, Joey and I started our Childbirth classes at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo (where we will be delivering). WOW. It's so much more than we expected.. we were definitely the youngest couple in the class, but everyone else was really nice and social. The teacher is great- funny and excited.. definitely kept the dads entertained which was great. It is a 3 session class, each class is 2 1/2 hours long. We already learned about signs of labor, actual labor and saw a video on childbirth in just our first class. We also got to bring pillows, and relax while the daddies gave us massages to help release any tension.. it was amazing!
Haven't really updated any belly pics lately, I need to. Since Joey and his sister have their own photography company we decided to go ahead and do some maternity pics within the next few weeks.. hopefully I'll be posting those soon! 8 weeks and counting..

Cindy's Baby Shower
Today was Cindy's baby shower that was held at my Dad's house. It was a lot of fun..it seems like not too long ago I was at my cousin Courtney's baby shower! It was freezing outside.. so it was a little hard to enjoy the festivities- Courtney had her baby boy Nathan a few days before Thanksgiving, so I finally got to meet him today. What a cutie! He definitely looks just like his Daddy. I just held onto him as long as I could all day (for extra practice, lol!)

Baby Nathan

I couldn't put him down...

Guessing the size of her belly game.. I actually won this game (although my belly was a bit of an unfair advantage..LOL)

My Dad and Stepmom practicing too.. haha.

The same exact picture from Courtney's Baby Shower, except 2 months, a lot bigger, and a baby later...haha

Visit with Traci & Tamlyn
I had a Dr.'s appt in San Clemente last Wednesday, so I decided to stop by my sister Traci's house on the way home to visit her and my niece Tamlyn. I haven't seen them in a while, and babies grow so fast! She had learned so many new things since I had last seen her.. she can now smile when you ask her to, she can say "mama"..and she's even learning how to walk already!!
My sister was so awesome and packed me a few essentials for the baby...my savior, as usual, in case she came earlier than expected. Thanks again Traci for everything!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
25 weeks!
And I'm getting bigger and bigger everyday! I swear, it's not just my Thanksgiving dinner in there! LOL.

How your baby's growing
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture

6 months!
I'll finally be 6 months tomorrow. I can't believe it. I'm finally here. It's been crazy so far, and I'm sure will only get crazier! It is unbelievable how much she has grown in even just the past month. I recently started to feel her kick (distinctively at least) around 5 1/2 months. Now she doesn't stop! She really is a feisty one.. she kicks me all night when I'm trying to sleep, and all day while I'm at work. She kicks me when she's hungry, thirsty, everything it seems like. LOL. I never imagined how amazing this feeling could be. Everyone keeps telling me I'm really small for 6 months, but oh well.. better for me, right? haha. Joey and I have still been throwing names around, we really liked and thought for sure we were going to go with "Leah", but after a while it just didn't seem right. I think we're leaning towards Riley. I think that's my final answer? haha.
I went last week to the ultrasound clinic in Costa Mesa and had a DVD made of my ultrasound. It was adorable. She was so active, kicking, waving her arms around. When I have some extra time I'll upload the video.
I talked to my Dr. (who is still in OC) and let him know that I moved the the SFV but I didn't want to have to switch doctors (plus Joey and I had really had our hopes set on delivering at Mission Hospital, since it is a CHOC hospital) He told me it was fine, he would induce me when I'm close enough so I wouldn't have to try to rush to the hospital when I went into labor! That made me feel alot more comfortable for sure.
For now, I'm just trying to work work work my butt off until she comes, enjoy the holidays and Voila! She'll be here before we know it! (Hopefully, LOL)
