First Bath

Riley's cord came off the other day, so last night before we put our Princess to bed, we decided to give her her first bath to help her sleep.. and man did she really knock out after! She did so good! We let her have her paci during the bath so she wouldn't cry.. worked like a charm! She's such a good girl! I couldn't be any luckier. I seriously have heard this little girl cry maybe twice since she was born!!

She's so good, she could sleep even through her bath.. LOL

"Mommy are we almost done? I'm getting tired!!"

"Mmm.. I smell so good!"

"Ahh.. I feel so much better!"

Riley meets some family...

Riley got to meet her Auntie Kelli and 2 year old cousin Jayden the other day. They came by the house to hang out with us, and Jayden had a blast with her! He was so gentle, and wanted to carry her all the time. He kept coming over to her, he would put his arms out to take her, and give her lots of kisses. It was too cute! My sister Kelli also convinced me to finally wash Riley's hair after almost a week of being home ( I was planning on just waiting until I gave her her first bath when her cord fell off, but I admit, her hair was getting a little oily.. lol) and her hair as predicted fluffed out! So cute! She's a whole new baby!

2 more days..

The LONGEST 2 days of my life!! And 3 more days until my birthday.. of course that couldn't have come any quicker, LOL! Riley will finally be here on Tuesday- my C Section is scheduled for 12pm.. I have literally been in bed sleeping for the past two days, doing absolutely nothing. I do have a few more loads of laundry to do before Tuesday, some quick errands to run, etc.. but for the most part trying to relax as much as possible! Can't wait to meet you, Riley!!

You're Going WHERE?

AAHHHH.. just my luck. Joey and I had another Dr. appointment today. She's still breech. We doubled checked with the Dr. about the date of the C Section, because he had to schedule it with the hospital.. turns out that he just remembered he's going on VACATION on the 25th!! =( Sucks, I really thought it would be neat to have her on my Bday, but one day off is still crazy.. and at least it's one day earlier that I don't have to wait..haha.

On the flip side, some bad news today.. the doctor noticed that my blood pressure was way higher than normal today.. so he sent us straight to the lab for some blood work.. he thinks I might have something called "Toxemia" or something, pregnancy induced hypertension.. or "pre eclampsyia". I have to go back on Friday morning for some more monitoring.. if it's still too high, we might have to deliver on Friday! All of this is going waaay too fast all of a sudden!

Riley is... Frank?

It's actually a BOY!! No, just kidding. Well, Riley isn't Frank persay, but she is Frank Breech. Joey and I had a Dr. appointment last week at 36 weeks for our last ultrasound to check the weight and position of the baby. We had a little bit of disappointing news to find out that Riley is actually breeched. =/ The doctor told us that because I'm so far along, it is highly unlikely that she will be able to turn in the next few weeks before delivery, so we had to schedule an elective C-Section.
Frank Breech

I definitely was looking forward to the experience of child birth.. but, oh well. I have been able to find some of the positive things about this scheduled C Section thing. I get to sacrifice my "you know what" ;) (I know they say it goes back, but it could never be the same.. haha) I know exactly when she'll be born (Joey and I chose my birthday, February 25th.. what a great birthday present, huh?) and I won't ever have to experience the pains of labor. =) (that's probably the best one!)

So it looks like she'll be here a little earlier than expected.. so Joey and I have spent the last week getting the house ready, washing all the clothes, blankets, etc. Outrageous shopping trips to Babies R Us for last minute things we need.. and trying to get as much sleep as possible! I have one last Dr. appointment tomorrow before the big day.. hope everything goes well- and we'll keep everyone posted!

9 days and counting!!!

Baby Shower

It was finally our turn for our Baby Shower! I haven't had time to post in a while.. Thanks to Joey's sister Theresa for all her hard work putting everything together for us.. and to my Mom and sister Kristin for helping set everything up!

Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate our special day, we had a blast!!

It's a good think my sister Traci is a picture person like I am.. I had to steal these from her! Thanks for everything!

Glamorous

I finally got the car seat cover I ordered for Riley in the mail the other day! It's so glamorous... and super cute! It's actually really soft and furry, I wish I was small enough to fit in this carseat! Haha

Apparently, she wants out!

I've been home from the hospital for a few hours now, but it seems like Riley doesn't want to wait much longer to come out! From last night, I noticed that her movements had slowed down a lot.. she's usually really active in the middle of the night. I hadn't felt her move for about 6 or 7 hours, so I called the hospital. They told me I should be fine, that all babies had their "quiet time" intervals, and if she hadn't moved by morning to come in.

I went to work as normal this morning, but was experiencing some light cramping. Nothing huge, or painful, just annoying. I didn't think much of it, since it really wasn't hurting, but I still hadn't felt her move all morning. During my lunch break I decided to run to the nearest ER just to be safe that everything was okay. Thank goodness I did, because they admitted me, put me in a bed and hooked me up to some monitors only to find out that I was having contractions! I thought it was really weird, because I guess I had imagined that I would be in some pretty serious pain when I started having contractions.

They monitored me for about 4 hours, only to find that unfortunately, although tiny ones, my contractions were in fact regular. They had hoped they would stop on its own, but after about 5 hours of monitoring they finally gave me a shot to stop my contractions. It worked immediately, and an hour later I was sent home, thankfully.

Although I'm anxious to have her here, I'm so glad that today wasn't the day! It's still a little too early!! Seems like she's just as anxious as I am though.. =)

For You, Ms. Sassy-

I finally ordered Riley's bedding today.. I didn't want anything pink, or too girly- and since her crib will be black, we went with a sassy kind of approach.. black and white!

A Dad on His Own...

So I came across this blog, actually, read about it in a magazine. This blog is an amazing journey of a single father, raising a newborn daughter who lost his wife just a day after giving birth to their baby girl. It's a very sad story, but amazing to hear him blog on.. about the wonderful life of him and his daughter- and late wife. If you start at the bottom of his blog page, and work your way up.. it's a timeline of their birth experience, and then the unthinkable.

Like I said, it's a horrible story to hear and read about, but amazing how he finds the strength through love for his wife and daughter to carry on...it's so inspiring- things aren't always as bad as we may think we have it.

Baby Shower Invitations

Auntie Tree (Joey's sister) did an amazing job on my baby shower invites. She hand made all of them, and they came out sooo unbelievably cute! Hope to see everyone there...

Childbirth 101

Last Tuesday, Joey and I started our Childbirth classes at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo (where we will be delivering). WOW. It's so much more than we expected.. we were definitely the youngest couple in the class, but everyone else was really nice and social. The teacher is great- funny and excited.. definitely kept the dads entertained which was great. It is a 3 session class, each class is 2 1/2 hours long. We already learned about signs of labor, actual labor and saw a video on childbirth in just our first class. We also got to bring pillows, and relax while the daddies gave us massages to help release any tension.. it was amazing!

Haven't really updated any belly pics lately, I need to. Since Joey and his sister have their own photography company we decided to go ahead and do some maternity pics within the next few weeks.. hopefully I'll be posting those soon! 8 weeks and counting..
