The Best Part of Being a Mommy...

..are the moments when they just want to be cuddled. She hasn't wanted this since she was a newborn, and it's all she wanted to do all day! (her teething gums have really been bothering her lately). I was in Mommy heaven!! :)

And yes, I cut my hair off. LOL

Getting Our Ears Pierced!

Okay.. we finally did it. I have been wanting to pierce Riley's ears since I got the go ahead from her Dr. at 3 months, but I haven't had the courage to do it. Well our friends Alysha and Payton got P's ears pierced last week.. and it gave us the push we needed to get Riley's done! She reacted just as I thought she would, she cried for a few seconds while it was getting pierced (just like her shots) and was fine a few seconds later. And of course, you know me, I had to snap all the pics.. so luckily I wasn't the one that had to hold her down. :) Unfortunately there was only one lady working in the store at the time, so we had to do one at a time. Within 5 seconds after it was all over.. Riley was (of course) back to her good old self. I over-clean them everyday, and luckily they haven't been bothering her since that day. Yay! My little girl finally has her bling!

Getting our ears marked

My poor baby..

I felt so bad snapping pics of her while she was screaming. She was staring at me like, "Are you serious right now?" LOL

Of course, after all was said and done she was back to her normal self

We were so caught up in making sure she was okay after the piercing that we forgot to take a picture with Mommy!! So we had to take one as soon as we got home.

My baby's BLING!

The next day was like it never even happened!

5 Months Old

Can you believe she is 5 MONTHS OLD already? AAhhhh. She's getting so big. She's advancing so much. No teeth, yet.. but I'm positive they're just around the corner. She has finally mastered tummy time!! Today she was on her stomach, and tucked her knees under her trying to push off.. so I was definitely excited to know that she somewhat already grasps the crawling idea. She is at a perfect stage right now.. but yet I still can't wait to watch her grow.

Yesterday my nephew Jayden was entered in a Japanese "Nisei Week" Baby Show. He went up on stage and had to wave at everyone.. he was so cute. We spent the rest of the HOT HOT day walking around Japanese Town in L.A.

Still loving all of her baby fruits!

This is the only picture I have but she has gotten a lot better since this time

Updates

Well, I haven't had much time to blog recently..she's getting to be more and more work each day! Here are some updates over the past week or so..

Riley's first 4th of July. She loved it. I took her down the street to see some fireworks with her cousin Jayden, and she sat quietly and watched the entire thing! I was covering her ears in case they were too loud, but she was getting upset that I wouldn't just let her be. As soon as I did she was all smiles staring up at the fireworks. We definitely had a blast.

Also in the past few weeks Riley took her first dip in the pool. I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to until she was 6 months old, but it was so hot.. and I felt so bad for her I just dipped her in for about 2 minutes. She really didn't have much of a reaction.. I don't think she really knows what to make of it just yet.

We had our 4 month wellness checkup for some more shots.. and of course my baby girl handled it so well. She is perfectly healthy and growing right on track, the doctor was definitely pleased with her growth. I asked about the tummy time, and he said it wasn't really a big deal.. and that she would eventually grow into liking it or learning how to do it. She has officially started to eat fruit now along with her cereal once a day- her first one so far is Applesauce. Loves it! Here are the updates from the appointment:

Weight: 14 lbs 4 oz 75% percentile
Height: 26 inches 95% percentile

I forgot my camera at my dads with her Dr. pictures, but for now enjoy the rest! Happy Monday!

Happy 4th of July!

and then.. her first dip.

Hot, Hot, Hot!!

It has been SOOO extremely hot here in the Valley over the past week..so Riley and I have been staying inside for the most part because I don't want her to get too overheated or sunburn! Today was slightly cooler than it has been here, so my sister and I decided to sit poolside in the shade with Riley so she could get some fresh air. I dipped her little feet in the water to see how she would react.. to my surprise, no reaction at all! After doing that a few times, and sitting her on my lap watching me "splish splash" my feet in the water, she was super excited. I can't wait until she gets just a little older (old enough to wear sunblock when the Doc says it's ok) so I can actually take her swimming!

Please forgive my sister's ghetto nails in these pix.. LOL

Striking a few poses before taking a dip in the pool

She had fun splashing

"Hmm.. I think I kind of like swimming"

Smiles

I love this little girl! She is so full of personality and all smiles. She talks a lot now, and has been for a while.. but recently she's been going through a little "screaming" phase. Not screaming loud.. but just a really high pitched sound. It's amazing watching your daughter grow each and every single day- learn new things and implement things she has already learned! There is nowhere else in this world I would rather be than right here with her!! Just you and me Riley bear- best friends forever.

She also loves her bathtime!

A 4 Month Birthday Surprise...

Today Riley is 4 months old! I would say I can't believe how fast time flies, how old she's getting etc.. but I say that every month! Today Riley's doctor gave us the go ahead to start some rice cereal once a day now that she's 4 months. She'll try veggies and fruit at 5 months. That was our big event of the day today, and of course I snapped about 500 pictures.. LOL. I bought her the "Earth's Best Organic Whole Grain Rice Cereal" which I liked the 'whole grain' idea more than I really cared about the 'organic'. I gave her about half a tablespoon for lunch, just to introduce her, and then let my Mom give her another half a tablespoon for dinner. She did a lot better the second time around. She kept rubbing it all over her gums with her tongue.. it looked like a little rabbit chewing on something. Hilarious! (I'll have to get a video of this soon). All in all by the end of her second feeding she really got the hang of it. I think she really already understands the whole "spoon to mouth" concept now. She did very well for her first time. I'm so proud of her! Happy 4 Months Riley bear! Here are some of my favorite faces!

Cereal already?! Wasn't she just born like, yesterday? =( LOL

This was her first reaction to her cereal..LOL

After a few bites, she definitely was in a better mood.

She did a lot better the second time around

Staring at the bowl, patiently waiting for her next bite

By the end of her second feeding, she really got the hang of eating her cereal, and the whole concept of eating with a spoon. So proud of you big girl!!
