Playtime

Okay, so this may sound dumb to a lot of people, but this weekend Riley FINALLY started to "play" with her toys on her activity mat! Yay! I've been working on this with her for countless days trying to teach her to use her hands. Now she finally can reach above her and pull on her toys. I'm so proud of her for finally doing it! (though, we still are struggling with tummy time)It's a lifesaver now because she can lay on this mat and play all day long if I let her.. un-bothered. She coos all the time now when I talk to her, and smiles on a regular basis now (my mom swears she "laughed out loud" when she was babysitting on Saturday..hmmm, lol) and everyday gets a little more fun! This week has marked a month of her sleeping through the night (about 10 hours), and what can be more exciting than sleep after a newborn?? :) She's growing fast- straight out of her 3 month p.j's.. she's about 2-3 weeks away from being too tall to fit in them I would say. All in all, she is still a happy baby- and doesn't really cry often unless she's hungry.

Also, this weekend, Mommy finally left Riley with Grandma all day- and had a blast! It was the first time I have truly been "out" and away from Riley all day since she has been born. I missed her dearly, but it was just what I needed to get rejuvenated again! :) Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

3 Month Pictures

I took Riley yesterday to get her 3 month portraits done, and she couldn't have done any better! Although we couldn't get ONE smile out of her, at least she wasn't being fussy! I'll take it! Playdate

This past Saturday, Riley and I went over to my Dad's house to help out with their Yard Sale. Riley and Jacob are getting older now and noticing each other a lot more. We had a fun day just hanging out.. and watching Jacob roll all over the place! He is only 5 weeks older than Riley, but is so much more advanced! It's crazy to see these two together, the difference in how they act is unbelievable.. We had a lot of fun none-the-less! Love you guys!

MOMMY'S HEART

Zzzz...

So in the past few days, almost a week, I have been so over-rested that I don't know what to do with myself! Riley is now (finally!) sleeping through the night! Yay! I put her down anywhere between 11 - 11:30pm after a bath and bottle.. and she sleeps soundly until about 9:30 - 10am! After getting used to the whole 3 hour feeding schedule since she was born, I almost feel like I am getting TOO much sleep. So I have made it a point now to get up a little earlier than Riley, so I can get things done around the house (laundry, etc.)before our day starts.

I finally splurged and got a new camera (yes, again a new camera- but it's the one I've been wanting for so long!) so I spend most of my days now snapping away. Riley is up now most of the day, so we spend time playing, talking to each other, reading books, and watching Elmo/Baby Einstein videos. I have been trying and trying to do more tummy time with her, because I do feel that she is a little physically behind where she "should" be at this age. She will be 3 months old in 4 days.. and still cannot hold herself up on her stomach (or at least just her head for that matter), and she is also still not trying to grab things with her hands. I have been putting her on her activity mat in hopes that her arms will accidentally hit the toys and make something click in her head..haha. When I put her on her stomach for tummy time, she puts her face into the ground and screams until I finally pick her up. I'm pretty much out of ideas for this one. She has discovered one thing with her hands though, but unfortunately it's her hair. I cannot count how many times during the day I look over and catch her pulling on her hair so hard that her head is yanked in that direction. Yikes! Maybe the only down-side to her having so much hair! Lately I have been trying to put her down for her naps hugging a blanket (a great technique my Stepmom showed me) so it holds her pacifier in her mouth and keeps her from pulling her hair. Thanks Grandma Rosa! It seems to be helping..

Happy Mother's Day!

I was blessed enough to celebrate my very first Mother's Day this year, and who could ask for anything more precious than Riley? We had a wonderful day together- we got to sleep in and relax, gifts from Mom (my mom), a yummy Mother's Day/Laker bbq at my brother's and the best of all, my very first Mother's Day card from none other than my little Mama Bear Riley (thanks Mom!). She was all dolled up for me on my special day, and couldn't have been any cuter!! Hope every Mommy had a wonderful and Happy Mother's Day! :)

Shots, Shots and More Shots...

Yesterday Riley had to get her 2 months shots.. =(. My stepsister Cindy came with us, because I was so nervous and didn't think I could bear to hold her down for them. She was in a weird mood when she woke up right before we went in to the room to get them, so I was even more scared. To my surprise, she took the shots really well. She did let out a little cry when they stuck her (two times!) but was fine when they gave her the oral one and was all smiles after!(Thank God!) We went back to my Dad's after the appointment and she seemed fine for the first few hours and she got to play with her cousin Jacob. But then later on in the day she was a little fussier than normal, so I gave her some Tylenol and a nice warm bath and she was passed out for the rest of the night! Here's some updates from the appointment:

Height: 23 inches/ Birth: 19 1/2 inches
Weight: 11 lbs 2 oz/ Birth: 6 lbs 6 oz

I can't believe how much she's grown! She's not my little baby anymore!! =(

2 Months!

My goodness, people weren't lying when they said "Enjoy every moment, time flies soo fast when they are little!" were they? Riley is 2 months now. (well, 9 weeks, I haven't had time to blog or take any good updated pix lately..) Even though I see her everyday, I notice every little thing that changes about her. Everyday her cheeks get a little bigger, her eyes get a little brighter, her smile a little bigger, her hair a little crazier and our conversations a little longer :). I love her more than I ever could have imagined loving someone, and it's so unbelievable to watch her grow! Happy 2 Month Birthday Love!
